Protection of rare fauna and tourism regulation in the rocky habitats of the "Orheiul Vechi" Cultural-Natural Reservation
The First Site Visit at Orheiul Vechi
Launched on March 2, the project aims to promote ecological tourism to ensure the protection of rare fauna and cultural heritage within the rocky habitats of the "Orheiul Vechi" Cultural-Natural Reservation.
During the first field mission, partnerships with Reservation staff were strengthened, and the mammalian and avian fauna in the rocky habitats were evaluated.
On April 29, the Theriological Society of Moldova, in partnership with the Orheiul Vechi Cultural-Natural Reservation, held two environmental education sessions at Trebujeni Gymnasium. These sessions were conducted for pupils in grades 5–7 and 9–11, focusing on the importance of conserving local biodiversity and protecting the region's natural habitats.
SEMINAR
Rocky habitats and biodiversity protection in the "Orheiul Vechi" Cultural-Natural Reserve
On June 16, a seminar on the protection of biodiversity in the rocky habitats of the reserve was held at the "Orheiul Vechi" Cultural-Natural Reserve. The event brought together the reserve's director and staff, environmental NGOs, educators from pre-university institutions, researchers from the Moldova State University, and the media (Ecopresa). Participants discussed challenges regarding biodiversity conservation, sustainable wildlife management, the importance of ecological tourism, and the need to improve public ecological education.
The event was organized by the Theriological Society of the Republic of Moldova in partnership with the "Orheiul Vechi" Cultural-Natural Reserve, as part of the project "Protection of rare fauna species and regulation of tourism in the rocky habitats of the 'Orheiul Vechi' Cultural-Natural Reserve," implemented by the Theriological Society of Moldova.
